Region 6 Awards

IEEE Region 6 Awards program is designed to recognize the accomplishments of their community. The Region 6 awards program honors IEEE volunteers, engineers, and teachers.

Overview

IEEE Region 6 SusTech (Sustainable Technologies) is a flagship initiative focused on advancing technologies that promote environmental sustainability, resilience, and responsible innovation. Anchored by the annual IEEE SusTech Conference, the program brings together engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore solutions in areas such as clean energy, climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, and smart infrastructure. Region 6 SusTech fosters interdisciplinary collaboration through technical sessions, student competitions, and community-driven projects, empowering members to apply engineering expertise to real-world sustainability challenges. It serves as a catalyst for innovation that aligns with IEEE’s mission to benefit humanity and build a more sustainable future.

R6 Involvement

Region 6 hosts the annual IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech) in the fall.

“We have never faced such a test, but neither have we encountered such great opportunity. You have the power to secure the well-being of this and succeeding generations.”

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the UN Climate Change Conference Paris 2015

Environmental Sustainability is at the forefront of global issues facing humanity. Advances in technology, policy and social behavior are essential for the pursuit of environmentally sound development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the future.

The IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech) aims to explore the development and application of science, engineering, and technology to promote sustainability.
