Region 6 Awards

IEEE Region 6 Awards program is designed to recognize the accomplishments of their community. The Region 6 awards program honors IEEE volunteers, engineers, and teachers.

Overview

IEEE Region 6, home to over 44,000 members, is strategically located in one of the most technologically advanced regions in the world. With over 80% of its members working in the tech industry, Region 6 is deeply embedded in the innovation ecosystem that includes global leaders such as NVIDIA, Tesla, Microsoft, Amazon, Intel, Broadcom, Intuitive Surgical, and Intuit. The region also benefits from close proximity to top-tier academic institutions including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, and Carnegie Mellon University’s Silicon Valley campus, fostering opportunities for collaboration in research, internships, professional development, and training programs.

In addition to industry and academia, Region 6 actively engages with influential nonprofit organizations such as SEMI, CASPA (Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Association), the Computer History Museum, and the Silicon Valley Engineering Council. These partnerships enhance IEEE’s ability to deliver impactful programs, connect members with broader professional networks, and promote technological advancement through community-driven initiatives. Together, these collaborations strengthen IEEE Region 6’s role as a catalyst for innovation, education, and leadership in engineering and technology.

Partner with Region 6

Partnering with IEEE Region 6 opens the door to meaningful collaboration that supports both organizational goals and the engineering community across the Western United States. Whether through sponsorship, co-sponsored programs, event participation, or funding opportunities, partners can engage with IEEE volunteers, student branches, and professionals to advance STEM education, professional development, and outreach initiatives. These collaborations help amplify impact, build brand visibility within a highly technical audience, and contribute to advancing technology for the benefit of society.

R6 Section Opportunities

IEEE Region 6 offers a range of Section Opportunities that empower local units and volunteers to engage members, lead impactful initiatives, and secure funding support for community-focused programs. Sections can apply for PACE project funds to support professional and STEM outreach activities, access maker and pre-university event support, and tap into broader funding avenues through IEEE-USA and the IEEE Foundation for projects that enhance education, professional growth, and local engagement. These opportunities help strengthen section vitality, foster innovation, and expand IEEE’s impact across the Western United States by enabling volunteers to bring ideas to life and benefit members at every career stage.
