The annual awards banquet, co-hosted by the UNM Sigma Xi Chapter and the Albuquerque IEEE Section, recognizes award winners in both organizations. This includes IEEE members elevated to the fellow grade as well as annual awards from both organizations. The UNM Sigma Xi Chapter performs the annual initiation ceremony. The meeting concludes with a guest speaker. This year, Matthew A. Baum, Ph.D., Marvin Kalb Professor of Global Communications and Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, will discuss "Misinformation: How big a problem and what can be done?"
