Description
This award honors pre-university teachers at any level between K and grade 12. This teacher especially promotes STEM, Future City, TISP, SMART, MATH COUNTS, First programs, and Science Olympiad et al. They inspire their young students to enter engineering, science, or math. They assist their students to build projects and enter science fairs.
Eligibility
- IEEE Membership: Nominees must be active IEEE members in good standing within IEEE Region 6.
- Qualified Role: Nominees must be a K–12 pre-university teacher or actively collaborate with K–12 classes or schools.
- Scope of Service: Must directly teach, mentor students, or assist teachers in promoting math, science, technology, and engineering appreciation.
- Active Engagement: Must demonstrate direct involvement through lectures, school activities, or classroom support.
- Leadership History: Should have relevant IEEE positions or STEM outreach responsibilities within the last 5+ years.
Judging
- Number of K-12 students, classes, or schools reached through STEM events, workshops, or mentoring sessions.
- Creative use of hands-on engineering activities (e.g., TryEngineering, Robotics, STEM workshops).
- Active promotion of IEEE educational goals, collaboration with local IEEE Sections/Student Branches, or use of IEEE STEM grants.
- Long-term engagement (e.g., multi-year programs) and training/mentoring other teachers or volunteers.
