Description

To honor an outstanding Affinity Group (Women in Engineering, Young Professionals, Life Members, Consultants) each year. Extraordinary performance greatly benefits the members of your Section. It attracts non-members to attend its meetings and events and encourages them to join the IEEE and that Society. It benefits industry and society in general by providing leading edge educational programs.

Eligibility

The nominating entity must be an officially recognized, active IEEE Affinity Group operating within IEEE Region 6. Eligible units include:

  • Women in Engineering (WIE) Chapter or Student Branch Affinity Groups

  • Young Professionals (YP) Affinity Groups

  • Life Members Affinity Groups (LMAG)

  • IEEE Consultants Network (CN) Affinity Groups

Eligibility:

  • Reporting Compliance: The Affinity Group must be in good standing with IEEE, having fulfilled basic operational requirements (e.g., active officer reporting via vTools, organizing elections, and submitting a minimum required number of vTools activity/meeting reports for the calendar year).

  • Operational History: The unit must have been active within IEEE Region 6 for at least one full calendar year preceding the nomination.

  • Exclusions: Current members of the IEEE Region 6 Awards Committee and Region 6 Executive Officers are ineligible to nominate or directly endorse an Affinity Group during their term of service.

Judging

  • Technical & Professional Programming: Quality, frequency, and member engagement in technical lectures, workshops, conferences, and industry tours.

  • Membership Growth & Elevation: Programs fostering member recruitment, retention, and Senior Member elevations.

  • Student & YP Collaboration: Joint activities with local Student Branch Chapters or affinity groups (Young Professionals, Women in Engineering, Life Members and Consultants Netwrok).

  • Section & Community Impact: Broader contributions benefiting local Section members, industry partnerships, or community outreach.

Nov 20,2026 (or as otherwise announced) by 11:59 pm Pacific time, including endorsements.
