SUMMARY:Novva DataCenter Tour
DESCRIPTION:IEEE members are invited to an exclusive behind‑the‑scenes tour of the Novva Data Center in South Jordan\, Utah\, one of the region’s most advanced and sustainably engineered data facilities. This visit offers a rare opportunity to explore the cutting‑edge technologies that power large‑scale cloud infrastructure\, AI workloads\, and hyperscale operations. From cooling innovations to physical security systems\, attendees will gain firsthand insight into how modern data centers are designed\, built\, and maintained.\nSpace is limited to 15 participants\, with a waitlist available once capacity is reached. Because of the small group size\, attendees will have the chance to ask in‑depth questions\, engage directly with Novva’s technical staff\, and experience areas of the facility not typically accessible to the public.\nBeyond the technical learning\, this tour is also a chance to connect and network with fellow IEEE members across disciplines and career stages. Whether you’re interested in data center engineering\, power systems\, networking\, sustainability\, or emerging technologies\, this visit provides a meaningful way to expand your knowledge and strengthen your professional community.\nAgenda:\n2:45PM: check-in\n3:00PM:　tour start\n6477 Wells Park Rd\, West Jordan\, Utah\, United States\, 84081

SUMMARY:SusTech Talk June 2026 - Sand-Like Particles for High-Temperature Thermal Energy Storage
DESCRIPTION:NEW DATE 16-June\n“Sand-Like Particles for High-Temperature Thermal Energy Storage: Enabling a Resilient Renewable Energy Future”\nwith Shin Young Jeong\, faculty member of the Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research\, University of Central Florida.\nDate/Time: Tuesday\, June 16\, 6pm – 7 pm Pacific Time\nAbstract:\nThe transition to renewable energy has increased the need for reliable\, large-scale storage to balance intermittent generation with continuous demand. Thermal energy storage (TES) offers a cost-effective solution by capturing excess energy as heat and releasing it when needed\, supporting long-duration storage and grid stability. Unlike batteries\, TES can scale to industrial levels\, provide process heat\, and deliver electricity through power cycles. Recent advances use abundant\, low-cost materials such as sand-like particles serving as both heat transfer media and storage. This talk will highlight emerging TES technologies and their role in a resilient\, decarbonized energy future.\nSpeaker(s): Shin Young Jeong\,\nAgenda:\n6:00 pm – Introduction of Speaker\n7:00 pm – Adjourn\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/537948
